The axial-choke elliptical horn consists of concentric elliptical corrugations about the aperture. These corrugations are generally a quarter-wavelength deep, however, their depths are often individually optimised to achieve a certain main beam or side- / back-lobe specification.
This antenna makes use of a linear transition from the circular feed waveguide to the elliptical waveguide which forms the centre ellipse of the elliptically shaped chokes.
